Terrified Mom Kills Monkey to Protect Children

One of the escaped monkeys in Mississippi was shot and killed Sunday morning by a mother who instructed the Associated Press she feared for the protection of her youngsters.
The AP stories Jessica Bond Ferguson — a mother-of-five dwelling in Heidelberg, Mississippi — was alerted to a monkey working within the yard exterior their residence by her 16-year-old son this morning … and, when she regarded, she says the monkey was simply 60 ft from her residence.
Ferguson instructed the outlet she fired her gun … “I did what any other mother would do to protect her children. I shot at it and it just stood there, and I shot again, and he backed up and that’s when he fell.”
As you realize … a truck overturned in late October that was carrying Rhesus monkeys from Tulane National Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana — resulting in 21 monkeys escpaing the automobile.

13 have been coralled by authorities, 5 have been shot on sight after a supervisor mistakenly claimed the monkeys have been contaminated with COVID, herpes, and hepatitis C — authorities later clarified they weren’t — however three escaped into the wild.
One of the opposite three monkeys was discovered and captured by authorities Sunday as effectively … so, it seems just one remains to be on the free.
