A Virginia instructor who was shot by her 6-year-old pupil simply scored $10 million in court … after a jury determined a former assistant principal ignored warnings the child had a gun.
Abby Zwerner sued faculty directors and the varsity board in 2023 — together with ex-assistant principal Ebony Parker — claiming the Richneck Elementary taking pictures in Newport News may’ve been utterly prevented. After six hours of deliberation, the jury of three males and 4 girls agreed Thursday … awarding her $10 million in damages, plus curiosity.
Zwerner’s workforce argued Parker had one fundamental job — retaining the varsity secure — and that a number of academics raised alarms the boy was carrying a weapon in his backpack. But nothing was accomplished … till after Zwerner was shot in her first-grade classroom.
The bullet tore by way of her hand, went straight into her chest, and left her with severe accidents — together with a collapsed lung.
Parker’s individually dealing with criminal expenses for felony baby abuse and neglect tied to her alleged inaction that day.
